Host Brooke Channon and designer Linda Applewhite work together to re-create the look of Applewhite’s Inspiration Room. Applewhite used a combination of European and Turkish antiques and bold punches of color to create this designer look.

Transforming the Makeover Room

Makeover Room, after: $2,585

Guest designer Linda Applewhite helped direct the transformation of the bland living room into a vibrant and whimsical space by taking the following steps:

Added a golden color wash (1 part water, 3 parts Benjamin Moore Suntan Yellow paint ) to the walls to create a rustic Mediterranean feel to the room.
Placed a French-inspired sofa with carved wooden detail and decorated it with bold throw pillows.

The design team refinished an antique console table and topped it with a gourd spray-painted bronze.

Used a round coffee table topped with ceramic plates, handpainted candlesticks with candles and a flower tin filled with grass.

Finished the seating area with plaid wingback chairs dressed with decorative pillows.

Placed two green-hued planters filled with plants in front of the window to add more greenery to the room.

Used a pine sideboard and hung a French Confit print over the sideboard. Dressed the piece with lamps trimmed in fringe. A pair of colorful ceramic roosters flanked the artwork as well as completed the sideboard area.

Added a chinoiserie style clock for a final whimsical touch to the room.
