Hide CaptionShow CaptionPetula boldly chooses fuchsia for the accent wall color. Note that the more red or magenta in a paint, the longer it will take to dry. All About
This color takes a pink primer and two coats of deep fuchsia. Petula is overwhelmed when she sees the wall, so she tones it down with brown-toned gray for the other walls. This color is also good for a media room because it reduces the reflection off the computer screen and TV. Next a computer desk and shelves are built and painted the same shade of gray to blend in, new dark gray carpeting is installed, and rosewood shelving against the fuchsia wall holds her TV and books. Her sofa is reupholstered in fuchsia fabric to balance the accent wall. The final result is a creative blend of high-tech modern and girlie pink.
Did You Know? Gray adds a sophisticated undertone and also makes people feel safe. Dark colors don't necessarily make a room look smaller; too much contrast does.
