One long wall is painted the color of roasted red peppers with a Venetian plaster finish. To achieve this look, regular plaster is tinted red-orange and applied with a stainless steel trowel in a random criss-cross pattern using short strokes. After two coats are applied and allowed to dry, the surface is rubbed with sandpaper or a buffing cloth. The result is a rich, Old World texture.

An accent wall in the dining room features color blocks in red-orange, fig brown and olive green. A dark wood grid shelving unit fits over some of the blocks to add dimension to the wall, while other walls are painted white for contrast. The sofa is reupholstered in fig brown, and a rug is custom made to tie the accent colors together.

Did You Know: Adding orange to red makes it brighter and more intense. White helps to define other colors and is perfect for multicolored rooms.
