Hide CaptionShow CaptionThis bungalow dining room is completely transformed with a color infusion and modern furnishings.
Designer Angelo Surmelis and team successfully merged the classic elements of this California bungalow dining room with contemporary style through color and modern furnishings and accessories. The wall paint was just the first step. The gold paint separated by the new white chair rail and the dark-orange Venetian plaster paint treatment below all work together to make the room seem warmer without fighting against the architectural "bones."

A new circular dining table in black is more traditional, while the brown wicker chairs are a bit more modern. Chic black accessories really pop against the gold backdrop and white display boxes in various shapes on one of the dining room walls. Black and white window treatments in two different lengths (far right) add much-needed depth to the small space. Painting the ceiling and framing it with molding makes the chandelier become a stunning focal point that helps unite the room with a modern twist.
