After- The white walls are painted a vibrant red to coordinate with the chambray look already in the room.
- The beds are repositioned to make better use of the narrow space. Sloan reuses the little boy's headboard on top of the dresser for additional storage.
- New chambray sheets with brightly colored trim are used on both beds. Monogrammed pillowcases add individuality.
How-to: Room Divider Activity Center
Activity Center
Steps:
- Cut felt and metal flashing to fit the bottom panel of two bi-fold doors.
- Tack in place on each door with trim mitered at the corners.
Pocket Organizer
Steps:
- Attach grommets to each corner of a place mat.
- Fold the opposite end so that it meets up under the grommet. Stitch in place.
- Screw two cup hooks into the bottom of the door and hang the grommets from the hooks.
- Embellish with colorful rick-rack.
How-to: Wall Shadow Boxes
Steps:
- Construct a box. Add shelves and small dowels to hold books in place.
- Attach a flea-market frame to the front. Paint entire piece.
- Add a clip light and wooden letters to spell out the child's name.
