Designer Angelo Surmelis chose transitional style because it marries both the traditional and modern elements. Transitional style is all about clean lines, warm lighting, minimal accessories and a lot of neutral colors in the background to make things in the foreground pop. The palette relies on a lack of color to evoke a clean, serene atmosphere. The paler of the two wall colors is also painted on the ceiling to make the room feel larger. The already-existing crown molding over the fireplace is continued around the room to create balance throughout the space.
