Susan hopes to add a second-story deck on top of her house to take advantage of the ocean view.
Susan Hinshaw didn't want to share a wall anymore. She wanted high ceilings, a big spa tub, hardwood floors, an open floor plan and an ocean view! She had outgrown her condo and was looking for the house of her dreams when she was hit by a sad reality--available housing in Los Angeles is few and far between and way too expensive. So, she decided to go another route and ended up finding the mobile home of her dreams.

Detail by detail, Susan and her husband made their manufactured home more cozy and comfortable with high ceilings, wood floors and a wood-burning fireplace. Susan says she thinks of her home as a beach cottage, so she went with a color scheme that reflects the sea, sun and sky. Lots of windows allow natural light to brighten each room.

With a whirlpool tub, skylight and lots of candles, the bathroom is Susan's spa sanctuary.
In the kitchen, crisp white cabinets and painted beadboard visually maximize the already spacious layout. In the bathroom, a marbleized faux finish on the walls lends a Mediterranean touch. Open shelving over the tub keeps towels and bathing necessities close at hand.
