One of the fun things about having an all-boy family is decorating an all-boy bedroom. When eleven-year-old Jimmy Murphy moved down the hall to his own bedroom, his mom Meredith was delighted. That meant she could redo Jimmy's old room in a brand new style for his younger bothers, Kevin, eight, and Petey, four. They weren't thrilled with her all-frog design but she found a way to make it work on a smaller scale through the use of color, patterned fabrics and a little bit of fun.
The color palette is a traditional combination of soft blue and green with touches of yellow and cream. Plaid fabrics on the beds and windows counter the frog designs. A large blue-painted armoire holds the boys' art supplies. Two matching chests are painted slightly different for each boy. Although the boys weren't wild about the frog theme, Meredith was able to sneak in some pieces for fun, like a metal frog doorstop and frog-shaped drawer pulls.
