Use two ladders for a creative shelving solution.- First, consult with the child. Be certain to consider the child's likes and dislikes when decorating his or her space. Decorating accessories are available in an infinite number of styles and colors to make a child feel most comfortable in their room.
- Director's chairs can easily be customized with fabrics coordinated throughout the room and work well for the growing child whose tastes might change quickly. Reversible fabrics used to create bedding, window treatments and other bedroom accessories give children the option of two styles to choose from. This is especially useful when utilizing fabric with juvenile themes. Keep in mind that most children prefer bold colors to pastels.
- A room-darkening privacy blind topped by a simple coordinating fabric valance makes a great window treatment.
- Shelves are perfect for displaying a child's treasures. Keep more valuable belongings on the top shelf and everyday things lower for convenience. One unique shelving option is to paint two ladders and place boards across the rungs as shelves.
- For another great storage accessory idea, hook a badminton net to the wall with cup holders and use it to stow stuffed animals.
- Many low-pile novelty area rugs are now available for children. Also, glow-in-the-dark wallpaper and wall stickers are available for an inexpensive and amazing addition to any child's room. Wall murals and hand-painted stencils offer other unique decorating options.
