Watch the Video: Make a yoga mat more comfortable by sewing a terrycloth cover. It can be removed and washed periodically to keep it fresh and clean.
Materials:

terrycloth fabric
measuring tape
hook and loop tape
rubber yoga mat

Steps:

1. To keep the terrycloth cover from sliding around on the rubber mat, it has to be a very tight fit. Do this by wrapping one large piece of cloth around the mat lengthwise.
2. On each short end, leave a tight 5/8-inch seam allowance and along the long side, add four inches to the top and bottom to create flanges that will hold the hook and loop tape.
3. To make the flanges, fold the four extra inches on each side twice to create two-inch double hems and pin/sew them in place.
4. Fold the fabric over with right sides together and sew the shorts ends in place with a 5/8-inch seam allowance. Turn the slipcover right side out, and then center the hook and loop tape along the flange at the edge. Pin it in place and stitch it on.
5. Hand-stitch the rest of the flanged edge closed and insert the yoga mat.
