Table Runner Window Treatment

Alice's Tips:

- Pick a straight runner for a casual look and a pointed runner for a formal appearance.
- Use a serrated scissor to minimize fraying of the fabric.
- Before you sew the second panel, make sure everything was sewn correctly.

Materials and Tools:

standard store bought table runner (Casual Seersucker Reversible Runner - Target)
rod clips (Levolor- Home Depot)
basic sewing supplies
sewing machine
white ball fringe
fabric glue (Elmers - Hobby Lobby)
rod and finials (Levolor - Home Depot)

Steps:

1. First fold your runners in half and cut them at the fold.

2. You now have four pieces of material to work with. Take two of the runners and match the fronts together.

3. To get that staggered look, pin the top runner four inches from the bottom runner. Pin the material together along the side.

4. Repeat this process with your other two pieces of fabric.

5. Sew the edges together using a basic, straight stitch.

6. Now you’ll have two pieces of material. You’ll want to again match the fronts of the material together and pin along the side.

7. Sew the two together to create one panel.

8. Measure how long you’d like your valance to be. Once you find your mark, pencil it in.

9. Now cut your valance at the mark.

10. Take your extra material and cut off one panel.

11. If you have an extra wide window you can attach a fifth panel using the excess material. You’ll want to follow the same steps that you did to create the panel.

12. The last step will be to sew in a seam line along the serrated edge.

13. Measure 2 inches along the fabric and mark with a pencil.

14. Fold the fabric to the line and pin.

15. Sew in a straight stitch.

16. Pin the seams of the treatment with rod clips to let your treatment hang evenly.
