Hide CaptionShow CaptionThe couple loves their 1940s home, but they'd like to give it an update.
Jaime and Steve DiMarco share their 2,200-square-foot, ranch-style home with their two young daughters. Initially drawn to the sprawling backyard, the couple now seeks to infuse the interior of their home with the openness and light they enjoy outside. The couple loves to entertain and have always dreamed of a large kitchen/great room that would look out into the backyard.

With a budget of $75,000, the DiMarcos would like to remove the walls that enclose the kitchen to create a large, open space with the dining and living rooms. The remodel will also include new flooring, appliances, cabinets and counters in the kitchen and a new fireplace in the living room. Color and accessories tie the spaces together to create a wonderful, contemporary great room with a country theme.
