Host Joan Steffend and designer Krista Crawford make over a bedroom for 20-month-old Olivia who's all excited for her first "big-girl" bed.

$34 — Wall Treatment
The walls are already painted a cream color, so Crawford enhances them with a light blue paint applied in a stripe and V-pattern near the ceiling. She hot-glues faux roses to the points of the V-shape for additional interest.

$55 — Bed
Window screens and assorted lumber come together for a charming headboard and footboard. Other materials include 2x2s for the legs, a 1x4 for the top, decorative trim for the center of both screens and cove molding for the finishing detail. Crawford further enhances the look by sewing a design onto the headboard screen with ribbons.

$208 — Bedding
The bedding consists of a light green and white gingham check bed skirt, a patterned duvet and aqua-colored sheets.

Instead of a fabric window treatment, Crawford designs a cornice and paints it to look like fabric. The design is cut out of MDF (medium-density fiberboard) and painted to mimic the pattern on the duvet cover.

$118 — Accessories
Victorian-style plates are repurposed into charming wall art. Mirrors are adhered to the center of each plate, buttons are hot-glued to the perimter of two plates and ribbon is woven through the openings to hold each together and on the wall. Other decorative elements include a moss-covered lampshade, another lampshade embellished with baby carrot dangles and a planter filled with faux cabbage and porcelain bunnies
