Using the Moroccan-style fabric that inspired the whole room design, Danielle enhances the existing wall color by transferring some of the scrolled patterns onto the wall with paint. She pencils grid sections on the wall before painting in the pattern. Then she paints the pattern freehand and goes back with a wet rag to blend in the colors for a subtle effect. Bromstad adds that it's good to keep color tones close together in decorative painting, even sheen on sheen (such as using a flat and semi-gloss together). Next, Danielle puts an antique parchment finish on top of the existing gold color for a traditional Spanish Mediterranean look. She achieves a gradation of color, from lighter to darker as she moves up to accentuate the white cove ceiling.
