Spacious Bedroom Becomes Master Retreat

Colleen Speer and Gerald Saavedra have lived in their home for over a year, but their master bedroom still lacks a style direction. The design team comes up with a plan to give them a suite retreat for less than $1,000.

Design coordinator Dave Sheinkopf builds a custom mirror for the fireplace. On each side, he installs a small shelf that will hold a candle. He paints it and inserts the mirror, which he secures with two-part epoxy adhesive.
