Designer Sara Trosen joins host Joan Steffend to transform an outdated bathroom into a spa-like retreat.

Wall paint – $20
The walls are painted taupe to cover up the outdated sponge treatment.

Cabinets – $92
To update the vanity, the cabinet base and doors are painted black. The cabinet door insets are cut out and replaced with Plexiglas and striped fabric.

Inside the cabinets, black molding is attached to the front of the wire shelves to give the appearance of wooden shelves instead of wire.

Molding – $24
Black molding that matches the cabinetry is hung up around the mirror. The same molding is used to frame the wall divider, which makes a handy toiletry shelf.

Two oval mirrors are hung over top of the big wall mirror, thus keeping the benefits of the big mirror with the updated look of individual vanity mirrors.
