Sophisticated Living and Dining Room Makeover
With the help of designers, this hockey-loving family's outdated, cluttered living and dining room is transformed into a space with a classic and modern look.

Simple rice paper lamps replace Roz's old decoupage ones. To make one, cut two plywood rounds (one eight and one six inches). Center/glue the smaller one on top of the larger and let dry. Drill a 1/4-inch hole through the center of both. On the back of the larger piece, router a four-inch groove from the hole to the edge for wiring and to allow the base to sit evenly. Paint or stain the pieces as desired and let dry. Wire with lamp parts and wall extension as per the manufacturer's instructions. Wrap the 6-inch piece with rice paper, gluing around the seam and folding the paper over itself to create a funnel effect.
