- The kitchen area is made up of a series of uniquely functioning spaces. In addition to the main work area is a large butler’s panty and a smaller baking pantry. Facing the island on one side is the dining area with banquette, and on the other is a coffee bar and massive planter with natural stone counter and copper faucet.
- Different woods were combined in the large kitchen for its charming and comfortable look. The main cabinets and island are made from honey-colored Pennsylvania pine. They use both seeded and hammered glass for upper cabinet panels. Lighter colored wood for specific pieces avoids a built-in look. The cabinets in the butler’s pantry are mahogany topped with bird’s eye maple. The baking pantry, coffee bar and planter use white wood cabinetry topped with marble. The flooring is 100-year-old reclaimed heart pine.
- The formal butler’s pantry has a large farm sink, a warming drawer and dishwasher, as well as ample storage.
- The large island looks out into the family room, so interaction between the cook and others is easy and natural. The family room is surrounded with windows on three sides.
