All About
Project by Lorie Jacobs.
Materials and Tools:
snowman template (L1070)
snowflake template (S465)
light source
embossing tool
Forget-Me-Not Blue checked paper
white card stock
ultra-fine iridescent glitter
white glue
black & orange fine markers
mounting tape
2 buttons
wax paper
glue gun
hook-and-loop tape
white 1/2" pompom
artificial pine bough
craft sticks
Steps:
1. Place snowman template on light source. Place white card stock over template. Rub back side of paper with wax paper to help the embossing tool glide smoothly.
2. Using the large end of the embossing tool, trace the outline and eyes of the snowman.
3. Emboss the hat and scarf on Forget-Me-Not blue paper.
4. Cut out the hat and scarf (leaving them attached). Note: When cutting pieces, leave a 1/16" edge around the embossing. Also, you'll get a much better cut if you turn the paper instead of the scissors.
6. Emboss the snowman's nose on white card stock. Color with orange marker and cut out.
7. Cut out the snowman.
8. Attach the hat, scarf and nose to the snowman using mounting tape.
9. Emboss three snowflakes on white card stock and cut out.
10. Apply glitter by tracing patterns on the hat, scarf and nose and around the edges of the snowman with glue/water mixture. Mix a few drops of water to a teaspoon of white glue. This makes the glue easier to work with. Sprinkle with glitter. Repeat the same process to add glitter to snowflakes.
12. Cut one craft stick so it's smaller than the snowman. Using a glue gun, mount the cut stick to the front of the pine bough. Glue the second stick to the back of the pine bough.
13. Glue the snowman to front craft stick. Place hook-and-loop tape on the back of the craft stick. This will be used to attach the pine bough to lampshade.
14. Add hook-and-loop tape to snowflakes.
15. Place second sides of hook-and-loop tape to lampshade in desired positions.
16. Attach decorations to the lampshade.
Tips:
- Start by selecting a lampshade and deciding how many spots you want to embellish with changeable decorations. Then select enough decorations for each theme to fill all of the spots.
- Some ideas for themes are winter, spring, summer, fall, birthday, anniversary, graduation, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, etc.
- Place the "hard" pieces of hook-and-loop tape to your lampshade and the "soft" pieces to your removable design elements. This way there is less likelihood of damage to your designs while they are stored.
