Lisa and Bill MacLean's vacation house in Watercolor, a small coastal community on Florida's Panhandle, is a great retreat from their hectic life in Birmingham, Ala. The open great room is the hub of the house. Sofas are covered in easy-care slipcovers and the coffee tables are made of Florida cypress, a durable hardwood that's pretty much indestructible. The dining table has a metal top that looks better the more distressed it gets. Natural fiber rugs keep the sand at bay and make for easy cleanup.
