Susan Roy lived in her Federal style home for a full year before finalizing any new design plans. She wanted to see firsthand what her family could live with and what they needed to change. Throughout the resulting renovations, Susan stayed true to the original flavor of her sea captain's home while adjusting it to modern-day needs.
Federal-style patterns are echoed in this bedroom's original fireplace and detailed throughout the house. This fireplace has rope detail boxed out on top and Federal-style fluted columns up the sides. Marble was inserted into the fireplace to enhance the room's appearance.
