Hide CaptionShow CaptionThis family room addition was built on to the Howes' house seven years ago and has become fun central.
The Howe family has lived in their home for 10 years, and their family room has seen better days. The room is used for playtime, watching TV and using the computer. Theresa and Tim would like to add more storage, as well as some artistic touches inspired by their beautiful photographs. The Design on a Dime team signs on to create a rustic, Americana-style space that can keep up with their energetic kids and active lifestyles.

The Dilemma
Although the addition is an extension of their home, it doesn't match the Americana decor of the rest of the house. The entertainment center was custom built for the corner, but it gives the room a lopsided feel. The walls are white and bare except for three exceptional photos. The concrete floors with sharp lines and polished finish add a lot of character, but the rug needs to be replaced.
