Watch the Video: See how to turn hard plastic and ribbon loops into a soft and textured accent pillow.
Materials:

plastic craft grid
an assortment of ribbon
fabric
lining
pillow stuffing

Steps:

1. To start, cut lots of eight-inch lengths of ribbon. Start the looping process about three or four rows in from one corner by putting one end of the ribbon in one square and up through the square diagonal from it (make sure that the raw ends are on one side of the grid and the loop is on the other), and then make a knot toward the end of the ribbon ends. Continue in this fashion until the grid is covered. Pull all the ribbons toward the front of the grid for the finished effect.
2. To finish the pillow, cut a piece of lining to size and hand-baste it to the back of the plastic to protect the knots.
3. Measure around the looped area of the plastic and lay out either a fabric or ribbon frame because it doesn’t need any hemming. Hand-stitch the frame pieces to the front of the plastic grid close to the base of the loops.
4. For the pillow back, pin fabric to the right side of the looped front and sew around three sides, leaving the fourth side open to turn the pillow right side out. Stuff the pillow; pin it, and then hand-stitch the side closed.
