Retro Dining Room

The Kovalenkos have a collection of photographs of benches they found in his mother's neighborhood. The people there are very poor and make benches out of natural and salvaged materials. Azhar creates this bench to honor that piece of their history. He uses two spindles and a 4- by 4-inch wood post covered in tongue-in-groove boards. The bench seat is made with a piece of particleboard that is reinforced with scrap wood. Azhar covers the seat with reclaimed wainscoting. This New World bench has an Old World sentiment.
