Watch the Video: Put together one of the easiest wall shelves ever for extra display space in any room!

Materials:

1x2 and 1x4 pine lumber
primer
paint
L-brackets
screws
drill
self-anchoring Molly bolts
220-grit sandpaper
tack cloth or rag
long level
measuring tape
pencil
flush spackle

Steps:

1. Cut the 1x4 boards for the shelves and 1x2 boards for the front of each shelf to the desired length. Attach the 1x2s to the front edge of the 1x4s to form a lip using finish nails after drilling pilot holes. Fill the holes with spackle and let dry. Sand each shelf to remove any rough spots. Remove the dust with a tack cloth or damp rag, and then prime all the pieces. Once dry, paint them as desired and let dry.
2. Attach L-brackets along the top back of the board. Mark the desired location for the first/bottom shelf using a long level and a pencil. Hold the shelf in position and mark the location of the screws through the L-bracket holes. Install Molly bolts at each hole for a secure installation and screw the shelf in place.
3. Repeat the procedure above to hang the rest of the shelves (the featured shelves are 24 inches apart). Touch-up the exposed L-brackets with matching wall paint if desired.
