Awesome House
Tucked away in Victoria's industrial neighborhood is Shahn Torontow's masterpiece: the "Awesome House." Built atop a parking lot on a narrow lot, it's a smart urban house for smart urban people. The three-story house showcases steel's residential applications. Inside, bold colors and an industrial themed aesthetic create visual interest. The home also features auxiliary spaces: a "craft cube," a saltwater swimming pool and sauna.

In the kitchen, the work area has been simplified and preparation made easier by arranging everything within arm's reach. A below-counter refrigerator provides easy access and saves space. The cabinets have no fronts or backs. A couple of deep drawers give more storage flexibility than the traditional bank of shallow drawers. Large items and appliances can be stored out of sight.
