A geometric pattern found in artwork inspired a stylish painted border.Materials and Tools:
tape measure
satin latex paint (Folklore Gold SW1356, Crescent Crème SW1352, Kaffe Tan SW1111)
satin latex paint (Ralph Lauren Canterbury TH50, Mayfield Common TH32)
painter's tape
paintbrushes
wall paint (Basic Brown SW1098)
ceiling paint (Folklore Gold SW1356)
Steps:
1. Measure the available border height and width of the walls to decide the block measurement. The existing border height in the featured room is 11 inches and 12-inch squares fit within the width of the walls so that complete squares can be painted.
2. Once the blocks are measured out, use tape to paint the backgrounds in a variety of colors to coordinate with the ceiling and the wall color (make them random so there isn't any pattern). Let dry (remove the tape as necessary throughout the project).
3. Use a tape measure as a guide for the quadrangle shapes (none of the sides have to be parallel and none of the angles have to match). Once satisfied with the shape, paint it in with the second desired color and let dry.
4. Repeat with the third color by masking off another smaller odd-shaped square and let dry.
5. Continue around the room until there are four colors within each block (use four different colors in one block or use the same color twice in one). Let dry.
