Wall Paint – $42
The first step in the makeover is to paint the unfinished walls in a warm "buckskin" color.

Star Border – $42
An Old West dimensional border is hung around the perimeter of the room. Rough fencing pickets are nailed to the wall, then rust-painted mesh gutter screen is nailed over the picket. Decorative sheriff stars are tied onto the mesh screen using strips of leather. Rope lines the edges for a rustic western trim.

Headboard – $90
To create the padded headboard for the stagecoach-style bed, four equal-size pieces of plywood are covered with batting and soft corduroy. The panels are hung on the wall in the back of the alcove. Upholstery buttons like those normally used in automobiles are fixed into the panels for a finished look.

Bed Curtains – $77 and Bedding – $67
A new big-boy bed is added for the growing toddler who owns this room. Red fabric and suede fringe are used to dress up the denim bedding. A bandanna dust ruffle was sewn from kerchief fabric and a bit of rope for the detailing. A Wild West version of tabbed-top curtains completes the stagecoach bed.

Closet Door – $39
A pair of saloon-style doors are built using slats of rough fencing picket. Black hardware in a rough-iron style adds to the rustic feel of the space.
