Since moving into her early 1900s New Orleans home last year, lawyer Kelly Longwell has settled in, but she has far from finished making the place her "home." She needs help with the entryway and adjoining parlor and is willing to spend $25,000 for one of three Louisiana designers to redecorate the space in a way that's both comfortable for modern-day entertaining and reflective of the history of the home. After meeting with all the designers, Longwell selects Michelle Verdigets's plan for her space. With a budget of $25,000, excluding electronics, Verdigets restores Victorian elements to the entry and parlor without sacrificing modern comforts. After having her old furniture reupholstered and adding some new pieces, refinishing the fireplace and making a little Louisiana lagniappe from the old wood in the house, Longwell is ready to entertain her friends again.
