James and Rachel choose faded denim blue for the wall color to reflect the shades of ocean and sky. Because it's such a small room, the blue is extended onto the ceiling, which eliminates the corners and makes it feel larger. To bring the focus down to child level, wainscoting is added for texture. The wainscoting is painted pale yellow with glaze added to make it sheer. It's brushed onto the primed wainscoting and rubbed off with a rag, leaving more color in the grooves.
