Hopkins builds a removable surround for the fireplace, since Tos rents. He brings in an Italian feel with Venetian plaster. A faux zebrawood mantel caps the fireplace. The mirror that inspired the room's design is now hung prominently above the fireplace. The area is balanced with matching cabinets on either side of the fireplace that provide separate functions. One stores dishes, glassware and other dining room items. The other cabinet houses the television.
