Mouse Pad Collectibles

Bonnie Halper has transformed her work space into a mouse pad. Fascinated by the various shape and sizes of mouse pads and the companies that they promoted, her collection quickly grew into a large collection. She has never met anyone else who collects them. Who knows--she may be the only one. Scarcity may make mouse pads more valuable, but value is a relative term to her. As long as she has space on her walls she will continue to pad them up.

Here are some quick tips on how to start your own collection:

• Look for mouse pads with crossover appeal such as those that feature celebrities or popular characters. You should be able to find them for $10 or less.

• Keep your eyes open for promotional mouse pads. A Louis Vuitton mouse pad given out at a conference in Hong Kong in 2002 recently sold for $120 at an auction.
