For a modern treatment to a light-colored, laminate sideboard, McAloon paints the cabinet black. When painting laminate, it's important to lightly sand the surface first. If you sand too deep, though, you'll hit particleboard. Be sure to brush off the dust and use primer so the paint will adhere. When spray painting, the trick is to apply the paint in even strokes back and forth across the surface. For an urban styling, McAloon paints graffiti on the translucent door panels.
