Hide CaptionShow CaptionA used office credenza is transformed into a combination TV console and bench.
The piece is primed and then painted black. The bench cushion is made by adhering foam to plywood, covering it with batting and then topping it off with the same fabric as the couch. Above the console, a square is painted the same red color as in the kitchen. A big mirror is hung within the red square to give it a frame-type effect.

A plain area rug is embellished with some fringe for a new look. A traditional-style, secondhand coffee table gets a contemporary look when the vintage legs are removed and replaced with 4 x 4 cedar posts. A fresh coat of black paint makes it a perfect match to the TV console.

TV bench – $62
Mirror – $20
Rug and fringe – $29
Coffee table – $18

A cityscape painting done on plywood is cut into sections. Each section is place in a acrylic frame, then hung on the wall in a staggered arrangement. The deconstructed, monochromatic artwork really makes a bold statement against the brightly colored walls.

Artwork – $58
