To balance the low platform bed in the room, Cunningham wants to create a large-scale headboard. That's a tricky feat on a budget. She did find $1 unfinished wood frames at a craft store and bought some pine strips to build her modern Asian headboard. She simply paints the wood pieces a deeper brown than the walls for contrast and assembles the headboard with wood glue and nails.
