Designer Sharne Algotsson explains that mixing and matching old and new furniture, accessories and collectibles can be a great way to decorate a space:
The key to creating a smooth transition between old and new pieces is to use a common thread like repetition in color, shape or origin. Color through the use of fabric can also go a long way to giving favorite antique furnishings a modern flair. This dining room combination is a wonderful example of old and new together with contemporary faux leather on antique chairs.
