Mixed Modern Living/ Dining Room

Designer Finals : Episode HDSF-402 -- More Projects »

Before: The dining area is functional, but not reflective of this family's love of modern design. The traditional pieces are family heirlooms they don’t want to have altered in any way.

After: The furniture wasn't touched, but simple chair slipcovers and colorful place mats tie it into the updated space. It's obvious from the dishes where this room's design inspiration came from!

Before: The Hicks love their home, but think the living/dining room needs some attention. Since it's the first space you see upon entering, they want it to make a bold statement.

After: A cool, contemporary look with green walls plus orange and brown accents throughout ties the two subtly separated areas together. New flooring, shelving, floor-to-ceiling dividers and modern furniture make it a fun space for everyone.
