The room is reoriented and the old entryway reopened. A new closet is created in the small nook. To make the sliding shoji screens, holes are cut into two pieces of plywood then both pieces are painted deep purple. A sheet of opaque Plexiglas is attached to the back of the plywood using rails to hold them in place. Light from nook’s window will pass through the circles into the room, but the inside of the closet can not be seen.

Tip: Smaller furnishings in a small room won’t always work in making a space feel bigger. Actually, it is the opposite — fewer things in a larger scale will make a small room appear bigger.
