Richard and Dina Brookbanks were thrilled when they found the four-bedroom Colonial they now call home. Built on a cul-de-sac, it's a perfect spot to raise their sons, Ben and Oliver. Unfortunately, the couple’s master bedroom and adjoining bath have no personality, and they hope the right designer can help them create a cozy retreat.

After, bed area

Considering all the designers' ideas, the Brookbanks choose Laurie Steichen Ingram to warm up the space with textured walls and embroidered fabrics. Steichen Ingram paints the existing molding ivory to match the wainscotting and removes the awkward windows. A new built-in dresser has plenty of storage and display shelves and a spot for a TV. The mellow wood finish and chenille make the lounge chair and ottoman the finishing touches in the Brookbanks' five-star retreat.
