After meeting with all the designers, the Fines choose Brian Klaas because they believe he designed a room that they could really live in. With a budget of $90,000, Klaas transforms the outdated space into a contemporary showplace. The walls have come down to create an expansive living area and a large, functional kitchen with plenty of storage. During the process, the couple increased their budget to include the entry area, stairs and new flooring. On the staircase, Klaas reduced the walls and installed a banister and balusters. Meredith's original inspirational fabric has been used to upholster a chair and the couch pillows, while the canisters and bowls were painted to match the fabric. Now the new wide-open gourmet kitchen flows effortlessly into the rest of the Fines' home.
