Use colorful dish towels for a casual kitchen window treatment.
Purchase kitchen towels in colors or prints that coordinate with the decor. Attach paintable brass-finish curtain clips to them, and run the curtain rings onto a brass rod. Either attach the rod to the wall with brackets, or use a tension rod to fit inside the window frame. Hang as many towels as needed to cover a window, or turn two of them lengthwise to make side panels, then fold a third over the rod to hang in the center of the window.
Tips:
- For a lacy look, take lace-trimmed place mats and weave the rod in and out of the lace.
- For variation, substitute terry towels instead of woven cotton ones, use a pretty scarf, or use linen.
