Designer Kate Hanks has a flair for achieving high-end results with modest budgets. When she and her husband remodeled their own home, they decided to turn the in-law apartment located above the kitchen into a master bedroom suite. As they began tearing out the dividing walls and acoustic tile ceiling, Hanks and her husband were pleasantly surprised.

The architecture of the master bedroom was unveiled with the removal of an acoustic tile ceiling. Skylights and a ceiling fan add a feeling of height and space.
