All About
Project designed by Pat DeSantis.
Materials:
12-inch square satin pillow or 1/3 yard of satin fabric and 12-inch square pillow form to make pillow
yard flat guimpe decorative braid
1/2 yard of 5/8-inch satin ribbon
5" x 7" tulle fabric
Steps:
- Start by making a square satin pillow if you can't find one. Sew and trim as desired.
- To make a pocket, glue a length of braid along the 7-inch edge of tulle. Allow to dry.
- Position the piece of tulle in the center of the pillow and pin in place. Glue the braid around the other three sides of the tulle, using enough glue to secure it to the pillow. Be sure to leave the original side open at the top.
- Glue another piece of braid directly to the pillow along the open top of the pocket.
- Cut the ribbon in half, and glue one piece on the inside of the pocket under the braid.
- Glue the other piece of ribbon at the edge of the other piece of braid to serve as a closure for the pocket.
- For the wedding, slip the rings into the pocket for the ring bearer to carry. After the wedding, slip a 5" x 7" photograph into the pocket for a unique memory pillow.
Scented Pocket Pillow
Make this pillow in the same manner as the wedding pillow. Fill the pocket with potpourri then place the pillow on a bed or sofa with other throw pillows to add a terrific fragrance to the room.
