Margy Blash wants a modern, hip space, where she can entertain family and friends. Blash shows interior designer Lee Snijders her modern chocolate brown sofa, and he notices she is wearing pink. The brown and pink inspire the color palette for the room. The Design on a Dime team creates a living room and dining room/office combo with just the right feel so she can work, relax and entertain — all while staying within the $1,000 budget.

The Dilemma
Blash has a chocolate brown sofa, but that's about the only thing in the room that she likes. The rest of the furniture consists of mismatched hand-me-downs. Ivy and cherub stenciling around the doorway to her office definitely won't go with her new modern style, nor will an ivy pendant light fixture.
