An updated look can give new life to just about any room and it doesn’t necessarily require all new furniture. In fact, when Country Living magazine's Nancy Soriano updated her home in New York, her newest furniture was comfortable, old family standbys.

Before Soriano moved in, the living room was carpeted and the dining room was tiled. She had wood floors installed throughout for a more cohesive look.

This chaise is where Soriano and her mother would read stories when she was small. She's reupholstered it in a casual neutral fabric, which inspired the green color for the walls.
