Dustin and Jan Valente like to have friends over but don't have a fun space to relax. Their garage has become the place to hang out, but it's cold, ugly and, a garage. Designer Karen McAloon, painter Danielle Hirsch and contractor Ian Read help this young couple remix things they already have in their storage area along with fresh paint to create a room that brings their native Hawaiian "aloha" spirit to their home on the mainland. The entire makeover is completed in two days with less than $50.
The homeowners think their converted garage is ugly and boring. Both of them are from Hawaii and would love something to remind them of their homeland. The space doesn't have a consistent style and the seating patterns aren't as functional as they could be.
