Host Joan Kohn tours the magnificent master suite of Sheila Doyle’s formal home located on six lush acres across from a golf course. The original master suite was expanded with the help of designer Denys Purdy, who created sumptuous his and her dressing and bathing areas.

An old sideboard was fitted with a marble top and sink to make a unique vanity in his bath. It is topped by an antique mirror.

Soft pink marble and polished brass fixtures add an elegant, feminine touch in her bath.
  • The large bedroom features a soft blue and white color palette. French doors opening onto a balcony add natural light, while a marble fireplace adds warmth. A metal canopy bed with a simple white spread is the room’s focal point. Dark traditional wood furniture, deep crown moldings and woodwork painted white, elegant floral textiles and a generous seating area add to the room's traditional, formal appeal.
  • His and her dressing rooms and baths are opposite each other down a hall. Her side uses white wood and light colors; his uses mahogany wood and dark marble.
  • Her dressing area consists of carefully planned closet space with everything behind closed doors. Her large bath was the original master bath that was gutted and reconfigured. It has light walls, white woodwork and pink marble. There is room for a large soaking tub with marble deck, a glass-sided shower and generous vanity.
  • His dressing area features mahogany closets with customized fittings for shoes and ties. The dressing area is large enough to accommodate a couch, table and television and is often used as a private living room. The smaller bathroom features a mahogany vanity with marble top, an antique mahogany mirror, and a ceramic-tile shower with body spray and overhead shower.
