Inspiration Room: $30,000Host Brooke Channon introduces designer Jeanese Rowell’s Golden Gate themed room. The room is accented by a designer upholstered bed, luxurious fabrics and a warm color palette.
Transforming the Makeover Room
Guest designer Melissa Wilson helped direct the transformation of a drab, uninviting guest bedroom into an intimate space with Bohemian flair.
Melissa added a brilliant new terra cotta color to the walls (Benjamin Moore: Baked Terra Cotta) and painted the ceiling (Benjamin Moore: Pittsfield Buff).
She also added elegant umber gold taffeta drapes to accent the windows and placed shades on the wall sconces to soften the lighting.
She created lush head and foot boards for the bed using particleboard, foam and damask fabric slipcovers. The bed was dressed with a cotton quilt and decorative pillows to create a beautiful color palette.
A tall cherry dresser was positioned in the room and topped it with an antiqued African woodcarving; she hung San Francisco prints on the wall to complete the dresser area.
She used a walnut desk with a faux marble top; accessorized the desk with a lamp, wood jewelry box and photographs. She added a taupe chenille parsons chair to complete the desk area. A cream low-pile rug was placed diagonally on the floor to tie the bed and desk areas together.
