Gold Extravaganza

Special Presentation : Episode TFB-S -- More Projects »
Take a look at one of Maryland's grandest bathrooms in a mansion owned by Johns Hopkins University. Unpolished marble mosaic floor and walls line a 23-karat gold leaf toilet with an old fashioned overhead pull chain. Brass pipes run around the entire room, balancing the Victorian brass fireplace and golden tones throughout.

Though small in size (just 10 by 12 feet), this 19th-century bathroom really evokes the term "the gilded age."

Even the toilet tank in this decadent bathroom is gilded with 23-karat gold leaf!
