The Carol Duvall Show camera crew visits Australian-born glass artist James Minson, a third-generation glass worker. His grandparents were scientific glassblowers in London and Sydney. Minson established a studio in Seattle and is known for his flame-working technique. This style involves working with borosilicate (Pyrex) glass with an oxygen- propane bench burner.

Minson demonstrates his technique for making perfume bottles, starting with pre-fabricated hollow glass tubes. Minson heats the tubes then starts forming the bottles.

Minson keeps the glass annealed (heated) so it's workable. He works from the bottom up then creates the stopper. Each piece is unique and very colorful. Each perfume bottle takes approximately one hour to complete.
